A New Way of Working

21st May 2020

Adam Partridge Auctioneers and Valuers are pleased to announce that we are once again open for business and have implemented a new and exciting auction model for buyers and sellers which will both follow the latest Covid-19 guidelines and improve our service for all our valued clients.

This will entail a number of changes for those who have bought and sold with us before which we are pleased to introduce in detail below.  We are extremely grateful for the support of our clients throughout these difficult times and trust you will agree that our updated practices will mean a safe, secure and successful buying and selling experience with us in the months and years to come.

All valuations at the Macclesfield Saleroom (and Liverpool in the near future) are now to be pre-booked via our online appointment system accessed on the adampartridge.co.uk homepage or on the Valuations page.  Following the ‘Book a Valuation’ link will allow you to select a timeslot with one of our Valuers – you can even view their areas of expertise on our Meet the Team page and select the Valuer who has the specialist knowledge relevant to your item(s).  These valuations will then be held in secure rooms where social distancing can be maintained at all times; appointments can also be arranged by sending an email to macclesfield@adampartridge.co.uk or by telephone (01625 431788) if required.  Valuations can also be conducted remotely via video call on the major providers (Skype, Zoom, FaceTime etc) or by emailing images of the item to us – our experts will happily fit in with your preferred procedure.

Once a valuation has been conducted your item(s) will then be entered into the next suitable sale in our newly revised Auction Calendar.  We are moving away from the ‘traditional’ large two-day sales that we have held over our ten-year history and are instead introducing a new schedule of quarterly smaller specialist auctions, each with a particular focus on related collecting categories i.e. Silver, Coins, Jewellery & Watches.  These smaller sales will allow entries to stand out that much more and will be accompanied by a comprehensive advertising campaign targeting the relevant target markets via a wide range of digital platforms including social media as well as selected print media such as the Antiques Trade Gazette.

In between these auctions we are introducing a quarterly Furniture & Interiors sale which will include those disciplines not covered in our specialist series such as carpets and rugs, lighting, traditional pictures and prints.  Our Valuers will advise as to which sale will be appropriate for your item in order to ensure it enjoys its best chance of success at auction.

Every auction will now be primarily online with phone bids available to book prior to the sale until Government guidelines on public gatherings are eased – it is our absolute priority to ensure the safety of our staff and customers and our new online-only model reflects this.  For those vendors who are perhaps of the ‘older school’ when considering internet-only auctions, we can assure you that with our international online client base and well-presented online catalogues your item will stand out to potential buyers when presented on its own webpage with in-built links to buyers around the world.

Payments will only be accepted via card payment, online or bank transfer (subject to usual practices, see our Terms & Conditions for full details).

Following payment, if you wish to collect your lot(s) from the saleroom you will need to book a timeslot via our online appointment system (accessed via the same process as valuations) or by telephone – this new system will allow us to prepare your lot(s) for safe and efficient contactless collection while maintaining social distancing at all times; our in-house postage service is fully operational with quotes provided in the same manner as previously.

Our Liverpool Saleroom and regional offices will be re-opening in the near future – announcements will be issued on our website regarding opening times and sale dates when we have ensured appropriate safety measures have been implemented at each branch.

Our wider services including house clearances and probate valuations are fully available – we are well equipped with PPE to conduct these services in a safe and timely manner.

We understand that this is a comprehensive change to many of the procedures you may be used to so if you have any further questions or queries please do not hesitate to get in touch via email or phone.

While it has been a challenging time for us all the auction industry has in fact boasted record selling figures during the lockdown period with online records broken week by week and higher average hammer prices than this time last year.  As such we are excited to reopen with a new and improved buying and selling experience that will both protect our clients and take advantage of the unprecedented opportunities that online auctions have to offer.

Our new sale dates at Macclesfield are below, with Liverpool dates to be advised at a later date. Currently, these sales are all online only with no viewing, however we are expecting this to change once the government restrictions have eased.
