Adam Partridge Auctioneers & Valuers to Host Charity Antique Valuation Event at Oldway Mansion
On Saturday 4th September 2021 Adam Partridge Auctioneers & Valuers will be holding a prestigious charity antique valuation event at Oldway Mansion in Torquay to raise funds for the Friends of Oldway.
The magnificent building was commissioned by Isaac Merritt Singer, the founder of the Singer Sewing Machine Company in the late 19th century, and, taking inspiration from the Palace of Versailles, was altered between 1904-1907. It remains one of Torbay’s most important buildings but in recent years it has fallen into disrepair. The Friends of Oldway now take care of the day to day upkeep of the building and the Oldway Gardens Volunteer Group maintain the wonderfully landscaped outside space.
Adam Partridge is hosting the event from 10am-4pm, and is inviting people to bring along their antiques and collectables to find out all about them and receive a valuation. In return, donations will be collected on the day, with all proceeds going directly to the charity. For those wishing to sell, items can be left on the day for forthcoming specialist auctions.
Adam is well known for his television appearances on Flog It! and Bargain Hunt and will be joined by several of his specialists on the day. Between them they will be inspecting all areas of antiques and collectors’ items including jewellery and watches, silver, Asian art, clocks, books, glass and ceramics, musical and scientific instruments, sculpture and pictures, studio ceramics, decorative arts, memorabilia and much more. Adam added “It seems fitting that having sold hundreds of Singer sewing machines over the years we should be hosting such an event at Oldway. These large buildings need constant upkeep and we are delighted to be able to help a little in raising funds for the incredible work the Friends of Oldway are doing”.
The event runs from 10am to 4pm with no appointments necessary. Refreshments will be available on the day.
