Friday 11th October: Lots 1-449

Over 400 lots will include a rare collection of rugby league medals awarded to Harold Buck including a 15ct gold and enamel Challenge Cup winners medal for the 1922-23 season. Buck was the game's first £1,000 signing when he moved from Hunslet to Leeds. Continuing on from the rare sporting memorabilia theme, also up for auction is Sir Bobby Charlton's velvet cap for England vs Sweden 1959-60 in whcih he scored a late goal, a lighter presented to him and his tankard which was given to him in Germany and which survived the Munich air disaster unscathed but for a little damage to the lid. Also for sale are three superb leather pistol holders which belonged to Lietenant-Colonel Chandos-Pole, a collection of taxidermy including a leopard skin with head, a bear cub skin, and a fantastic set of four stags heads by Spicer & Sons, sporting guns, military guns and pistols, gun accessories and cases, bayonets, swords, a collection of wonderfully rare 17th and 18th century daggers, military helmets and to finish the sale around 50 lots of rare helmet plates, cap badges and fascinating medal groups, one awarded to a Lieutenant Colonel which includes a 19th century dagger gifted to him from the Sultan of Oman.
