The illustrated catalogue for our forthcoming Fine Art Auction at The Cheshire Saleroom is now online. The remaining photos will be uploaded by the weekend.
To view on our website click here and The Saleroom website click here. The remaining photos will be uploaded by the weekend.
The auction will be attended by the Antiques Road Trip TV crew filming an episode for Celebrity Antiques Road Trip; Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and Waldemar Januszczak will be competing against each other with the help and guidance of experts Charlie Ross and Charles Hanson.
As well as our usual sections we have a good selection of musical instruments, mechanical music and scientific instruments.
Two good Victorian polyphons, two Swiss cylinder music boxes and an Edison phonograph is a good representation of the mechanical music we have in the sale, and amongst this section we have guitars including a 1998 Gibson 6 string electric guitar, violins, a silver plated tenor saxophone, a Lachenal Edeophone concertina to name but a few.
The other specialist section in the sale, scientific, includes the contents of a local pharmacy including shop fittings (apothecary cabinet, sponge cabinet, bottles and scales) and three other pharmacy bottle collections from different retired phramacists. We also have for sale a large collection of rare scales and weights including a Young's people scale (£700-£1,000). Not exactly scientific but of a similar nature is a rare set of Holtzapffel rosewood handled chisels (£1,000-£1,500).
A good collection of military knives/daggers serves as a little precursor to our one day Sporting guns and militaria sale on 11th October and the same can be said for the Oriental section in this sale. A small collection of various pottery and objects d'art precede our first one day Chinese and Japanese Works of Art auction which will be held at the end of Asian Art Week, 8th November.
We have a range of diamond solitaire rings for those who are thinking of popping the question with estimates ranging from £100-£7,000. If a diamond ring is not good enough, then how about a Gucci bicycle for the lady? At £1,000-£1,500 it must surely be a tempting proposition for the lady who has everything. And for the man who has everything, we have a very rare limited edition 18ct gold Omega Speedmaster, modelled as the watch Buzz Aldrin was wearing when he stepped out onto the lunar surface in 1969. This was specially crafted for NASA and remains a popular timepiece. This watch is estimated to fetch between £6,000 and £8,000.
As well as watches and jewellery we have a superb collection of silver; an Edwardian inkwell in the form of a tortoise (Berthold Muller), George II Harlequin tapersticks, A Georgian wax jack, several Georgian mustards, mugs, vinaigrettes, and much more.
