29/06/2013 : Next auction 11/12 July

Antiques & Fine Art with Musical & Scientific items...catalogue coming soon. Pictured - one of two Victorian polyphons in the sale.

We are just putting the finishing touches to the catalogue for our next auction on 11th & 12th July.

The catalogue will be online early next week and features specialist sections for Musical Instruments, Mechanical Music & Scientific Instruments, as well as all the usual sections and there will be around 1600 lots to be sold over the two days.

Amongst the scientific section, we have the contents of a pharmacy including cabinets, signs and numerous apothecary jars & bottles, a large collection of scales & weights including a rare set of 19th century people scales by Young of London and many other items. Whilst not exactly scientific, keep an eye out for a fantastic set of 70 Holtzapffel 19th century chisels with rosewood handles.

The musical section features a selection of string & wind instruments and, as specialists in such items, we have two good Victorian walnut "penny in the slot" polyphons, one of which is pictured with this article and an excellent Lachenal "Edeophone" concertina in fine condition.

There is also a very strong clock section including items from the estate of a serious clock collector, with a selection of English & Continental bracket, mantel, carriage, wall and longcase clocks.

Following the huge success of our last auction, we have received more entries of fine silver from Georgian to 20th century, including a rare pair of candlesticks by John Cafe, a good wax jack, many small & novelty pieces and a magnificent large German silver tortoise inkwell with import marks for Berthold Muller, London 1902.

Another good and large section of jewellery and watches including a 2.5ct diamond solitaire ring and many other rings, brooches, bracelets and a strong watch section is lead by a rare 18 carat gold Omega Constellation gents wristwatch.

As a result of our recent success with a rare gold rugby medal, we have had consigned a rare 15 carat gold and enamelled 1913-14 Football League Division 2 winner's medal awarded to Frederick Emberton, which has attracted a lot of media attention. One of our favourite lots of furniture is a fine large early Victorian country house cellarette and, as always, the saleroom is full of a wide range of furniture to suit all tastes and budgets.

And finally for now, for the lady that has everything...........a rare Gucci bicycle!
