A first at Adam Partridge Auctioneers, a sale of over 450 lots of studio ceramics and decorative arts. A large single owner collection from Southport forms the nucleus of the sale; The Michael & Stella Ascott Collection of Studio Ceramics. This consists of nearly 200 lots in all, with the remainder of items in the sale consigned from all over the country. Works by ceramicists such as Bernard Leach, Lucie Rie, Janet Leach, Tatsuzo Shimaoka, Ray Finch, Derek Emms, Mick Casson, Derek Clarkson, Seth Cardew, Richard Batterham, John Maltby and David Frith are included in the studio ceramics part of the sale.
The decorative arts section includes pieces by Moorcroft, Clarice Cliff, Pilkington’s Royal Lancastrian, Della Robbia, Ruskin and Goldscheider, with pieces decorated by the likes of Hannah Barlow for Royal Doulton and William Mycock for Pilkington’s. The sale showcases a good and broad range of predominantly British firms from the 19th century right through to the present year.
