24/10/2017 : Highlights from the October Ceramics Sale
Some of the highlights from the One Day Auction of Studio Ceramics & Modern Design on Friday 13th October 2017.
As well as drawing crowds, both online and in the room, to make this a very successful auction, we were also able to raise over £4000 to support Clay College Stoke Venture at Middlepot Pottery. Items were generously donated by contestants of the BBC's Great British Throw Down, as well as host Sara Cox and Guest Judge Johnny Vegas.
The ever popular John Ward was one of the highlights of the day with this large stoneware black and white bowl achieving £6800, well over its estimate of £2000 - £3000.
Edmund De Waal's very large porcelain footed bowl in copper red with manganese rim also attracted competative bidding in the room and realised £4900.
This early stoneware vessel with 'haloed' band by Jennifer Lee made three times its inital estimate of £1200 - £1600 and went for £4200.
Our next auction is An Auction of Antiques & Fine Arts with Asian Art, Musical Instruments, Silver and Jewellery with a Specialist Evening Auction of Whisky at The Cheshire Saleroom, Macclesfield on Thursday 2nd & Friday 3rd November 2017 with viewing day on Wednesday 1st November 2017.
