21/03/2017 : Highlights from the March sale
Some highlights from the One Day Sale of Decorative Arts, Studio Ceramics and Design...
JOHN NORTHCOTE NASH, R.A. (1893-1977); watercolour, landscape with thatched cottages in foreground was estimated at £1000 - £1500 but sold for an impressive £4200 followign some heated bidding between an online buyer and someone in the room. Other Nash items were also very popular, proving that John Northcote Nash still has substantial following.
This WILLIAM DE MORGAN; a Sands & Pottery Fulham ceramic chameleon decorated tile was definitely one of the highlights of the Ceramics sale. It sold for a staggering £3600, over ten times it initial estimate!
Ovbiously we can't discuss the highlights of the March sale and not mention Polo the Bear. This Lazerian aluminium sculpture, standing almost two metres tall and weighing over 1/4 tonne was created to raise funds for Salford Loaves and Fishes, a charity that provides support for the homeless and vulnerable in Salford. Initially the bidding seemed a little hesitant but soon got underway and things really got heated. Eventually the hammer fell to an anonymous online bidder for a grand total of £2100.
Everyone at Adam Partridge is so happy that we raised this money for Salford Loaves & Fishes and that Polo is onto the next stage of his adventure but we will miss having him in our car park to say hello to on a daily basis.
