10/07/2017 : Highlights from the June Sale

Here are some highlights from June's Auction of Antiques & Fine Arts with Wines & Spirits, Silver, Jewellery, Watches & Toys

June saw another large and very busy auction for Adam Partridge Auctioneers & Valuers with over 2300 lots on sale and more than 1300 bidding through

There was still a large number of attendees at The Cheshire Saleroom and 'spirits' were high.

There were some real surprises in the auction with many items reaching high above their estimates, to the delight of Adam, vendors and buyers alike.

ADDED INFORMATION: A rare late 19th century French tinplate horse and carriage, the pony skin covered horse pulling the painted carriage with rear driver's seat, lamps, spoked wheels and hinged doors enclosing a padded seat, bearing label inscribed 'Au Nain Bleu, Shauviere, Paris', length approx 50cm. The driver and two bisque doll passengers were identified and added into this lot which achieved a very attractive £3100, over ten times its lowest estimate.

This impressive platinum diamond and solitaire ring, the princess cut stone weighing approx 3.06ct, VS1, G, in four claw setting, ring size M, approx 7.1g accompanied with a full GIA gem report, number 15209989, achieved a very respectable £29,000 after some heated bidding between the online community and buyers in the room.

A Turkish Tophane Pottery coffee set, with both silver and gilt heightened decoration, comprising circular tray, coffee pot, lidded jug, lidded bowl, six cups and saucers, also two pipe ends, the lidded bowl and cups with silvered plaques inscribed 'Husmeni Consple', diameter of tray 33cm, realised £4600, well above it's initial estimate of £30 - £50. We had four determined telephone bidders all from Turkey who were keen to return this lot to its country of origin.
