Adam Partridge Auctioneers and Valuers welcomed in 2017 with a two day sale of Antiques & Fine Art with Stamps and Ephemera. Some unusual items caught the eyes of the bidders in the room, on the phone and online. These are some of the highlights from the sale...
This CHARLES SILLEM LIDDERDALE RBA (British, 1830-1895); oil on canvas, study of a young gypsy girl, proved to be very sought after and went to a determined bidder in the room for £2550.
A Browning B25 Heritage model, 12b over/under boxlock ejector shotgun was another sought after piece with many enquiries, both in person and on the telephone. It eventually sold to an online bidder for £4000.
This rare 15th/16th century iron clad and leather bound dome topped casket with central loop carrying handle, traces of the embossed and painted leather and with wooden frame, the base bearing paper label inscribed "Church Congress Exhibition 250" proved to be one of the highlights of the sale. Initially valued at £300 - £500, there was an unprecedented level of interest and it eventually went for the hammer price of £2300.
The next sale will take place on 22nd and 23rd February 2017 at The Cheshire Saleroom, Withyfold Drive, Macclesfield. This will be a two day auction of Antiques & Fine Arts with Nothern & Contemporary Art, from 10am onwards. Viewing will be on Wednesday 21st February from 10am - 8pm.
