19/12/2017 : Highlights from the December Auction
Highlights from the Two Day Auction of Antiques & Fine Arts with Toys, Wines & Spirits.
The final auction of 2017 didn’t fail to attract a large number of buyers both online and in the auction room. Despite the wintery weather in the local area, people turned out to see what was on offer at the two day Auction of Antiques & Fine Arts with Toys, Wines and Spirits.
Here are some of the highlights:
These two 1960/70s Sasha dolls, one with blonde hair and blue eyes wearing a brown corduroy dress and navy shoes, the second with brown hair and brown eyes wearing a cloth gingham dress and white sandals, length of both approx 42cm, both with later associated straw hats proved to be very popular little ladies and achieved £3400, well above their £80 - £120 estimate.
This Boodle & Dunthorne 18ct yellow gold and diamond set 'Raindance' single row necklace set with forty-four round brilliant cut diamonds of various size totalling approx 6.79ct, length approx 40cm, approximately 29.8g made a beautiful Christmas gift for some, realising £7400.
Adding some festive ‘spirit’ to the proceedings was this Chivas Regal single 70cl boxed limited edition bottle of gold signature scotch whisky, with label and case designed by Christian Lacroix, aged 18 years sold for £340.
An early 20th century German Bing tinplate clockwork model of a torpedo ship, with trailer, supplied with key, length 102cm, as seen on page 107 of 'Collecting Tin Toys' by Jack Tempest was another popular item in the toys section which went for £920, well over its initial estimate.
The first auction of 2018 will be a specialist sale of the Reg Cheetham Collection of Militaria, Scientific Instruments and Curios. This will be a two day sale of over 1700 lots without reserve taking place on 18th & 19th January 2018, with two viewing days on 16th & 17th January 2018.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our customers and friends a very Merry Christmas and all the very best for 2018.
