30/01/2016 : First Auction of 2016

The first auction of 2016 was surprisingly busy for the traditionally quiet month of January.

Over 1100 lots across the 21st & 22nd January helped to fill the Macclesfield saleroom and viewing day on the 20th was just as busy as it is with the more usual 2000 lot auctions.

Laurence Stephen Lowry was once again the star of the show with 9 of his signed limited edition prints making between £2,200 ("Man Holding Child") and £5,000 ("The Fever Van", pictured).

Other good prices include £2,850 for a Boodles 18ct white gold diamond "blossom" necklace, £2,800 for a butterscotch amber and agate necklace, £1,150 for a large Chinese Republic period plaque, and £960 for a George III mahogany chest of drawers.

The next sale at the Cheshire Saleroom is on 3rd & 4th March 2016 and we will be consigning entries until Monday 15th February. To view our 2016 sale dates, click here.
