Adam Partridge Auctioneers' inaugural specialist one day auction of Silver, Judaica, Jewellery & Watches consists of around 950 lots. The highlight of the sale is set to be a rare and important 18th century passover Haggadah by the celebrated scribe Aaron Wolf (est. £100,000-£150,000), discovered in a house in north Manchester. The existence of this manuscript was previously unknown and its appearance at auction has excited scholars and collectors alike across the world. There is a crossover with Judaica and silver, as a good collection of Jewish silver is on offer, including a rather impressive Passover Seder plate by Georges Weil, a changeable silver Art Deco hannukah candelabrum, a silver Etrog box and even an 18th century silver circumcision clamp.
There are over 450 lots of silver in the sale from impressive tea sets and canteens of cutlery to castle top vinaigrettes by Nathaniel Mills and rare 18th century Irish silver dish rings. There is also over 400 lots of jewellery and watches in the sale, the highlight being a wonderful 4.2ct brilliant cut diamond with excellent clarity and colour (Est. £40,000-£50,000). But for those looking for a more affordable diamond ring, there is a broad selection of diamond solitaire rings ranging from £50-£5,000. Wristwatches and pocket watches of all types are going under the hammer too, with names such as Omega, Longines, Rolex and Tissot to name but a few.
