An eclectic selection of antiques and collectables grace The Cheshire Saleroom once more with a selection of Collectables, Ceramics, Furniture, Silver, Jewellery, Watches, Traditional Paintings, Northern Art, Maps, Decorative Arts, Books & Ephemera, Clocks and more.
Following our best sale in September, we have another superb fine art auction. A fine collection of studio glass from a single owner boasts names including Fulvio Bianconi, Joel Philip Myers for Blenko, Tobia Scarpa, Dino Martens and Ercole Barovier, the highlight of which is bound to be a red battuto vase by Carlo Scarpa for Venini.
There are four hundred lots of furniture and the section is probably our finest selection for some time, from 17th century oak to contemporary stylish rosewood pieces and a stylish chair by Charles Eames, and a fine Steinway grand piano!
Northern, Contemporary and traditional artists are well represented too, with big names including William Turner, Kyffin Williams, Tony Wooding, Jack Simcock, Harold Riley, Montague Dawson, Augustus Mulready, Nicola Simbari, Alfred Vickers, Arthur Joseph Meadows, Joan Miro and many more.
Generally one no longer gets excited when antique longcase clocks appear on the market, but when one dates from the 1690s, has beautiful marquetry inlay and hails from the workshop of the esteemed clock maker Christopher Gould in London, the excitement returns. It carries an estimate of £8,000-£12,000.
Demetre Chiparus makes an appearance in this sale with a couple of trademark ‘chryselephantine’ figures as does a rare piece of Foley Intarsio, in the form of a jardinière stand.
