The illustrated catalogue is now online for our forthcoming two day auction with specialist sections for silver, jewellery and watches. A wonderful collection of church silver with wonderful provenance spear heads the silver section which consists of no less than 320 lots. This collection once belonged to the husband of author Elizabeth Gaskell. William Gaskell gave this collection to the Cross Street Chapel in Manchester whilst he was minister there. The collection is now being sold in order to raise funds for the chapel.
Over 200 lots of jewellery includes an impressive north Manchester collection with some equally impressive diamonds, ranging from 1ct-5cts mounted in rings and as necklace pendants.
Rolex, Omega, Longines, Tissot and Patek Philippe are just some of the watch manufacturers represented in this auction through both wristwatches and pocket watches.
Other highlights include a fine George II longcase clock by the esteemed makers Benjamin Gray and Just Vulliamy which carries a pre sale estimate of £10,000-£15,000, a rare Vienna wall clock (from the same collection) by Ludwig Hanz (formerly the property of the Esterhazy family in Hungary) with an estimate of £3,000-£5,000 and a superbly carved white marble figure of Aphrodite, after the original by Greek sculptor Doidalsas.
Condition reports and additional images are available on request but are to be requested no later than 5.30pm on Tuesday 4th March 2014. Send requests to email@example.com
