The illustrated catalogue is now online for our forthcoming two day auction with specialist sections Asian Art and Judaica. Day one will begin with over 600 lots of Chinese, Japanese and Indian works of art to include porcelain, jades, Satsuma, bronzes, paintings and silver and the remainder of a collection of early Chinese ceramics from the Sung and Yuan Dynasties. Illustrated above are a fine pair of Republic period porcelain vases, estimate £600-£800.

Over 150 lots of jewellery includes a diamond ring with large central cushion cut stone of 4cts, est. £2,000-£3,000
Other sections include collectors’ items, scientific instruments, pharmaceutical antiques, ceramics, militaria, toys, sporting, textiles, decorative arts, ceramics, bronzes, silver, watches, lighting, paintings, Northern & contemporary art and nearly 400 lots of furniture.

The various buckles, some of which are by Liberty & Co, form part of a large local collection of all manner of Arts & Crafts objects, which is to be sold in this auction, including furniture and copper & brassware.

A good selection of traditional paintings and Northern art will be going under the hammer too, spearheaded by an enormous oil on canvas by James Northcote depicting Daniel in the lion’s den. It’s provenance is rich and well documented having been sold to a Mr Shakerley for 100 guineas in 1814 and donated to the Congleton Urban District Council in 1926, where it remained until Congleton Borough Council decided to sell to raise funds in 2007.
