The third of three auctions in one week for Adam Partridge (the first being an onsite doll museum sale in Nottinghamshire on Saturday, the second is an Antiques and Collector’s Items auction in Liverpool on Wednesday), this one is the biggest of the three with 1800 lots over two days.
The Wines and Spirits section has 80 lots including 12 magnums of 1975 Chateau La Tour (£700 - £900), a bottle of 1978 Petrus (£500 - £700), and 24 lots that are from a particularly well-stored superior Hampshire cellar.
The toys section, always a big seller at Christmas time, contains over 200 lots and includes some interesting items such as a late 19th century French clockwork automaton rabbit (£300 - £500), a huge collection of mainly Hornby train related items and several Dinky and Corgi vehicles.
One of the best collections of Moorcroft seen on the market will be sold on Thursday. Pictured is a superb 1920's very large baluster vase decorated in the "Moonlit Blue" pattern (£2,000 - £3,000). This is part of a private collection from Wales and spearheads our fantastic Decorative Arts section which also features a large and important pair of c.1876 Elkington & Co gilt metal and cloisonné trumpet vases (£2,000 - £3,000). A near identical single vase is illustrated in a lithograph of Elkington's display at the Philadelphia Centenary Exhibition 1876.
Also well represented are our usual sections including Watches which features an 18ct gold Cartier ladies wristwatch (£5,000 - £8,000), Collector’s Items featuring a 60 inch narwhal tusk (£4,000 - £6,000), Paintings which features an oil by Thomas Sidney Cooper (£3,000 - £5,000), Northern & Contemporary Art including a Donald McIntyre oil (£3,000 - £5,000), some interesting Silver items such as a set of fifty silver ingots (£2,000 - £2,500), a collection of bronzes by artists such as Bergman, Bonheur and Mene, various vestas and vinaigrettes, a good selection of jewellery including an 18ct yellow gold platinum mounted emerald and diamond ring (£1,500 - £2,000), as well as good Metalware, Musical Instruments, Mechanical Music, Clocks, Carpets, and Textiles sections.
