29/05/2012 : Antiques & Fine Art with Oriental & Asian Art & Musical Instruments Results
The Antiques & Fine Art with Oriental & Asian Art and Musical Instruments sale of the 24th and 25th May was a fantastic success with some surprise results.
The big seller of the day was an Imperial Jiaqing porcelain vase which sold in the room for £22,000 but it was a Chinese porcelain bowl with Qianlong seal mark that was the interesting result. Valued at £500 - £700, the bowl became subject to a bidding war in the room, eventually reaching the price of £21,000.
The musical instrument section was also successful with many electric guitars and studio equipment being snatched up for great hammer prices including an Ernie Ball Music Man "Stingray" four string electric bass guitar which made £460.
Other top results are:
A late Meiji period cloisonné vase - £12,000
A porcelain "One Hundred Boys" vase with iron red Jiaqing seal mark to base - £12,000
A Japanese ivory figure of a young woman holding flowers, and a pair of carved and coloured ivory tusk sections depicting figures in a landscape - £5,200
The next sale to take place at the Macclesfield saleroom is the Antiques & Fine Art with Textiles sale on the 5th and 6th July. Deadline for getting items into that sale is the 11th June.
