06/06/2010 : Antique Hunting Weekends
Adam Partridge now offers unique antique hunting weekends for the antique enthusiast starting from just £199 per person.
Adam Partridge, known to many from his regular appearances on antiques television over the last ten years, hosts his own unique series of Antiques Hunting Weekends. A project that was originally undertaken in association with Hilton hotels, Adam now runs these popular weekends under his own name and they have been extremely well received, with many repeat visitors
Unlike other antiques weekends and holidays, which are largely lecture based, Adam will personally take you hunting for antiques at some of the country’s best locations including the Antiques for Everyone Fair at the NEC, Birmingham and Hemswell “The Largest Antiques Centre in Europe”.
The break starts on Friday, when you can check into your hotel and enjoy the facilities prior to a welcome reception and dinner. This is followed by an entertaining talk from your host, which gives a fascinating insight into the life of an auctioneer and the making of antiques television, amongst many other things.
On Saturday morning, transport is arranged to take guests out hunting for antiques, with Adam on hand to advise if required. A quiz is generally handed out with the answers revealed later in the day.
Antiques hunting can be tiring, so the coach usually departs in time to get back to the hotel for around 4pm.
After a few hours rest (or taking advantage of the hotel facilities) and dinner at leisure in the hotel restaurant is an Appraisal Session. Guests are welcome to bring items from home or items they may have purchased that day to be appraised by Adam.
This can be interesting even if you don’t bring anything as it is always fascinating to see what other people have brought and the stories that accompany them.
Quiz results are given and a prize awarded to the winner.
Sunday morning sees a visit to a local historic house, attraction or stately home, returning to the hotel at around lunchtime. The break ends here, but guests often stay over an extra night or two.
Prices are very reasonable and start from just £199 per person which includes two nights dinner, bed and breakfast, coach travel to venues and admissions.
