01/04/2010 : Antique Hunting Weekend Breaks With Adam Partridge

We have now finalised 2010 dates for Antique Hunting Weekend Breaks in the UK with your host Adam Partridge.

These weekend breaks are a really good opportunity for specialist advice from an antiques expert.

These breaks include a 2 night stay in a hotel with dinner, bed and breakfast, visits to a selection of antique shops and fairs, tours of local historic attractions, coach hire and admissions, after dinner talks and an appraisal session.

The dates are as follows:

23rd-25th July

Saturday - Antiques for Everyone Fair at The NEC. This fair is divided into two sections and includes seating, restaurants and bars. Section One is sophisticated with elegant styling, spacious gangways, comfortable seating areas, coffee and wine bars and live music. Here you will find superb pieces of furniture, porcelain, paintings and desirable objets d’art.

Section Two is for all levels of collectors whether you are new to the antiques scene or following it for years. You will find over 250 dealers to help and guide you to finding that special item.

Sunday - Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings. Avoncroft is a museum of historic buildings spanning seven centuries. These buildings were rescued and painstakingly rebuilt brick by brick. You can enter the buildings which are styled from many different periods including Tudor, Victorian and Edwardian and the 1940's.

Staying at - The Hilton, Bromsgrove to include the Britisserie Restaurant, which offers their guests comfortable terracotta furnishing and classic British cuisine. This hotel also offers leisure and spa facilities which includes an 18 metre pool, cardiovascular equipment and free weights, or why not relax in the sauna or steam room and treat yourself to some aromatherapy.

13th-15th August

Saturday - Stafford Bingley Hall Antiques Fair. The Bingley Hall at the Staffordshire County Showground is a purpose built ground floor exhibition centre offering quality furniture (over 100 stands), fine arts, decorative arts and antiques. You can also buy refreshments on the day from stalls and the restaurant. There are also wide aisles and good disabled access.

Optional - If your still wanting more, we can arrange an optional visit to one of the largest collections of 18th century ceramics in the country with a private guided tour of Alan Finney Antiques. Please contact us if you are interested in this extra tour.


Sunday - Wedgwood Museum. For a unique experience and a warm welcome, the new Wedgwood Museum is the place to visit - whether you just like looking at beautiful objects or have a specialist interest. We are the home of one of the most interesting ceramic collections in the world. Our galleries tell the story of Josiah Wedgwood, his family, and the company he founded two-and-a-half centuries ago.

Optional - Visit to one of the largest collections of 18th century ceramics in the country. Private guided tour of Alan Finney Antiques.

Staying at - The Quality Hotel, Stoke on Trent which is conveniently located near the Wedgwood Visitor Centre. 10th-12th September

Saturday - Hemswell Antiques Centre, Lincolnshire. Europe’s largest antiques centre has a selection of dealers and experts who can offer you the widest possible range of antiques, collectables and antique furniture.
Within three separate buildings you will find around three hundred display areas, which will keep you enthralled for hours. Take your time to wander through our vast array of bygone treasures and - who knows - you may discover that antiques bargain you’ve been searching for?

Sunday - Lincoln Castle. In 1068, two years after the Battle of Hastings, William the Conqueror began building Lincoln Castle on a site occupied since Roman times. For 900 years the castle was used as a court and prison with many being executed on the ramparts. Many original features still remain and the wall walks provide visitors with magnificent views of the Cathedral, the City of Lincoln and the surrounding countryside.

10th-12th December

Saturday - Visit Stratford Upon Avon. Enjoy this historic town and its selection of bookshops, antiques centre for some Christmas shopping.

Sunday - Anne Hathaway's Cottage. The girlhood home of Shakespeare's wife Anne, which remained in the Hathaway family for many generations. The house still contains many items of family furniture.
