25/04/2012 : 19th April report and Sporting Catalogue online
The first of two sales in 9 days was held on the 19th and 20th April at Adam Partridge Auctioneers and a great one it turned out to be. The catalogue for the second one is also now online and will be just as great.
The Antiques and Fine Art sale was a big one with nearly 1800 lots spread over the two days. The first day were lots 1-899 which included a strong Decorative Arts section featuring lot 304, a rare Foley Intarsio plaque which sold for £1,950. Also featured on day one was the Musical Instruments section which contained an early 20th century German cello which sold for £1,100.
Day two was lots 900-1770 and contained the popular clocks, furniture and jewellery sections. Included in this were a late 19th century cuckoo clock which sold for £2,500, an Art Deco dining suite which sold for £1,950, and a 18ct gold and platinum mounted solitaire ring which sold for £3,800.

The catalogue for the Sporting & Country Pursuits with Militaria & Sporting Memorabilia sale is now online and features some fantastic items. There is a huge guns section which features the pictured lot 514, a matched pair of mid-19th century Augusto Francotte duelling pistols valued at £4,000 - £6,000. The medals section also contains some very exciting lots including lot 596, a DCM medal group ascribed to Sgt. Matthew Long, 13th Light Dragoons, one of the Charge of the Light Brigade which took place during the Battle of Balaclava in 1854 during the Crimean War. This is valued at £3,000 - £5,000.
The sale takes place at Adam Partridge Auctioneers' Macclesfield saleroom (Withyfold Drive, Macclesfield, SK10 2BD) and viewing is on Friday 27th April from 10am until 8pm and Saturday 28th April from 9am until 11am when the sale itself begins. If purchasing firearms, you must ensure you have the relevant legal documentation before bidding.
The next sale at the Macclesfield Saleroom is on the 24th and 25th May and is for Antiques & Fine Art with Oriental & Asian Art. The closing date for items in that sale is the 30th April.
