Adam Partridge Auctioneers’ second sale in 9 days was a great success and the place was bustling all day. The Sporting and Country Pursuits with Militaria and Sporting Memoribilia sale took place on Saturday 28th April and contained over 600 lots.

The 28th April sees the specialist sale of Sporting & Country Pursuits with Militaria & Sporting Memorabilia taking place at Adam Partridge Auctioneers’ Macclesfield saleroom.

19/03/2012 : The Willows Sale and Homes & Antiques Magazine Awards

On the 8th March 2012, Homes and Antiques Magazine held their annual award ceremony Britain’s Best Antiques Shops. Adam Partridge Auctioneers were the only auction house in the North West nominated in the Best Auction House category along with auctioneers from Birmingham, Glasgow, London and Leyburn. The eventual winners were McTear’s in Glasgow but Adam Partridge came away with a Highly Commended certificate presented by Kirstie Allsopp. We would like to thank all of the readers of Homes & Antiques Magazine who voted for us.

15/03/2012 : The Willows Clearance Sale

The Willows Variety Centre in Salford has gone into administration after 40 years of business in the entertainment industry. Due to this unfortunate event, Adam Partridge Auctioneers have been asked to hold an on-site auction at the centre on March 17th to sell off all of the items in the building before its demolition. The items up for sale are massively varied and include such things as: commercial kitchen fittings (dishwashers, ovens, glasswashers etc.); a massive quantity of cutlery, crockery and glassware; a large amount of dining furniture and much much more.

30/10/2011 : Chinese Vase brings £60,000 in record auction

A Chinese vase sold for £60,000 on Friday 28th October. Dating from the Jiaqing period (1796-1820), the vase measured 32cm in height and had been damaged to the rim. It had been disregarded by the owner, whose mother had used it as an ashtray for many years, so was brought along to a valuation day.

17/05/2011 : Sale Report - Voysey drawing brings £33,000

A drawing by renowned Arts & Crafts architect Charles Francis Annesley Voysey was the highlight of another hugely succesful two-day auction held on 12th & 13th May. The drawing, pictured left, was found by auctioneer Adam Partridge in a Macclesfield house clearance and created a huge amount of pre-sale interest from specialist collectors with the hammer finally coming down at £33,000.

The fake Lowry at the centre of a £1 million art fraud that landed Maurice “Lord Windsor” Taylor in jail has been seized by police and is heading to auction to help pay his victims compensation. Once sold for £330,000, it is now valued at just £5,000-10,000.

03/06/2010 : Joy For Local Man As Tusk Rescued From Skip Sells For £14,500

A rare tusk from a narwhal whale, salvaged from a skip more than twenty years ago, has been sold for a huge £14,500 at Adam Partridge Auctioneers of Congleton, Cheshire. The owner rescued it at the time, not realising how much it was likely to be worth, simply because he thought it was a shame that such an object should be thrown out. It had survived in good condition and measured 231.5cm (around 7’7”)

06/05/2010 : Records broken as violin sells for £89,000

A fine Italian violin by Joseph Gagliano, Naples 1785, lot 1212, was sold for £89,000, a new auction record for a violin by this maker and a new house record for Adam Partridge Auctioneers & Valuers.

A new house record was achieved on 10th September when a Chinese carved rhinoceros horn libation cup on wooden stand was sold for £27,000, surpassing the previous record of £14,400 for a Wedgwood Fairyland lustre vase sold in March.

14/03/2009 : Antiques Roadshow Discovery sold for £14,400

A rare Wedgwood vase featured on a recent edition of The Antiques Roadshow was sold on 12th March 2009 for a staggering £14,400. The vase stands an impressive 42.5cm in height (almost 17 inches) and is unusually decorated in a variation of the Lahore pattern with moose and giraffes, designed by Daisy Makeig-Jones. It was valued by The Antiques Roadshow experts at £6000-8000.
