Mixed condition, pitting/scratching/discolouration to the blades and tools in varying degrees, further general wear to the handles. A Queen's South Africa Medal with Defence of Ladysmith and Cape Colony bars awarded to 32689 DVR J.A Noden, R.F.A.; with two contemporary letters detailing DVR Noden's passage to South Africa and war experiences detailing his distress and wish to return home, with a contemporary newspaper clipping confirming the death of DVR Noden in South Africa due to enteric fever and detailing his early life and citizenship of Stockport; also a naval certificate of service first class for a Joseph (possibly) Noden of Stockport, Cheshire born 1847 and entered service 1866 serving on the HMS Victoria amongst others.
