Condition Report

All brass safety lamp made after 1920 and supplied to Brown Brothers for sale to motorists, for use under the bonnets of cars parked during winter conditions before the general use of antifreeze in the mid 1950s.

Condition Report

First produced in 1959 for both coal mines and civil engineering use. This lamp was supplied to the Post Office in 1967 for testing for gas and lack of oxygen on manholes and tunnels.

This Small model lamp is generally referred to as the 'Stanley Disaster Lamp' as it is said that many of these lamps were sold to help raise money for the families of miners killed or injured during the Stanley pit disaster in 1909.
